About Me
I retrained in counselling after a career in tertiary education and English language teaching. I retrained because that is what I have always wanted to do, and it was the right time to do it.
I returned to NZ late August 2021, after living in Hong Kong for 12 years. I also lived in Kenya for 3 years in the late 1990's and then Glasgow for a year.
Living away from Aotearoa/NZ has given me the chance to reflect and work on identity / culture and my own personal journey with the aid of some excellent counsellors over the years. Plus living in other cultures has been an education in itself.
Now I am back home and have been seeing clients in person and online.
My abiding interest has always been in what makes us tick! And what keeps us from getting the most we can out of life. What messages we received growing up about ourselves, and how we carry those messages into adulthood. Or how we cope when life throws intense experiences our way or what we do when choices are taken from us.
I'm a strong believer in helping people find their own resilience with good listening, team work and helping you find that internal observer to take up the reins over big emotions.
Life doesn't come with a manual and we all need support. I think counselling is a great way to provide a unique connection in which to explore our inner thoughts and emotions.
I genuinely enjoy connecting with people in counselling sessions. The talk is real, important and authentic.
Plus I can provide an extra pair of ears for
those who like the comforting presence of
Raven, a well behaved quiet dog who is very
happy to be by your side.
